Henry Morgan
Trauma Informed Cultural Support Coordinator
My Traditional name is Us’kuu’sel of the Gitxsan Nation, I belong to the Gisgaask (fireweed) Wilp (house) Gwiiyeehl/Xaantxw from Anspayaxw (Kispiox). I have 4 children of my own 3 girls and 1 boy, and my partner Jenny has 3 children 2 girls and 1 boy. The boys are the only ones left to graduate within the next couple of years. I have been on my wellness journey for the past 10 years and recently started my four-year commitment to Sundance.
My goal is to strengthen my spirit to work with the men in my Wilp and the community. I am integrated by how culture strengthens the spiritual aspect missing in today’s generations. I am fortunate to be here to work with IRSSS as my parents are survivors of residential school, and my brother and I are survivors of Day School. Wellness is a major part of my family. We come together yearly to harvest salmon along the Skeena River, utilizing our mother’s smokehouse for the families to work as one. The spiritual gifts of my brother and sister strengthen my skills and provide me the confidence to find my voice and space within my family.
