SUPPORTING EMOTIONAL WELLNESS THROUGH CLASS ACTION CLAIMS
Child Family Trauma Informed Health & Cultural Support.
IRSSS’s new Trauma‑Informed Cultural Support team travels throughout BC -on‑reserve and in urban settings - to offer culturally grounded mental and emotional health supports for those directly impacted by the First Nations Child & Family Services & Jordan’s Principle class‑action settlements. Working closely with the First Nations Health Authority and Deloitte, our facilitators lead de‑briefings, talking circles, and individual sessions before, during, and after the application journey.
All services are free and delivered in a safe, Indigenous‑led approach that honours community strengths and wellness traditions.
ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT
About the FN Child & Family Services & Jordan’s Principle Settlement.
The First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle class-action settlement includes multiple categories of claims for children and families harmed by discriminatory practices in the child welfare system. As of March 10, 2025, applications opened for two groups: the Removed Child Class and the Removed Child Family Class. Additional categories will be introduced over time, and the claims process is expected to continue for several years.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
IRSSS does not provide claims application support or assistance with paperwork. However, we can help connect you with official Claims Helpers who can assist with your application in person. For accurate and up-to-date details about eligibility, deadlines, and how to apply, please visit the official settlement website.
