IRSSS Seeking Community Leaders to Join Our Board
The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) is inviting Expressions of Interest from motivated First Nation Intergenerational, including 2SLGBTQIA+, representatives to serve on its Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee is seeking candidates with professional experience in one or more of the following areas (or related fields that would benefit the Board):
Finance
Business (including AABA business)
Governance
Legal
Health and/or Counselling
Youth engagement
Fundraising
Non-profit leadership
Banking and/or investments
Previous board experience is considered an asset.
Desired Qualities and Experience
In addition to professional expertise, candidates should demonstrate:
Strong personal and professional integrity
Independent, thoughtful judgment
Policy or decision-making experience (business, finance, and/or government)
Willingness to commit the time required to fulfill board of directors’ duties (minimum of 5 hybrid meetings per year)
Understanding of Indigenous issues, culture, and politics
Experience working with First Nations communities
Residential School Survivors and Intergenerational Survivors are strongly encouraged to apply. Lived experience is recognized as an important form of knowledge and leadership.
