Stephanie L. Pennier
Trauma Informed Cultural Support
Stephanie is from the Kunn Laanaas Clan and Lives in Gaw Tlagee - Old Masset Village on Haida Gwaii. Gudangee Tlaats’gaa is her Xadd KilName. Stephanie describes herself as a mother first and foremost, which may be why, in her counselling practice, she specializes in Women’s Wellness and healing, the Family Unit, Parenting Programming, Perinatal Support and Postpartum Depression. She also has Addiction and Treatment Management and Advocacy expertise within the healthcare system.
Stephanie integrates knowledge gained from extensive education and training in her field. She draws upon her personal and professional experience to provide quality care for her clients. Some of her training and credentials include Soul Retrieval Trauma Recovery, Regulation Therapy, Indigenous Tools For Living training, indigenous-oriented therapy, Crisis Intervention Stress Management training, a Permanent Certificate as a Saskatchewan Newstart Model Life Skills Coach and group Facilitator, Chemical Addictions Advanced Diploma at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s Degree of General Studies Specializing in Addiction from the University of the Fraser Valley.
Stephanie wants to build capacity within communities through empowerment and education. She believes wholeheartedly that healing and growth are possible for everyone and that there are answers within us to the questions we struggle with in our daily lives. Indigenous people have followed a matriarchal system for generations, and her goal is to bring the voice back to the mothers, grandmothers and aunties to ignite the traditional values that we require to heal. She works well with a wide variety of individuals and various healing modalities, including somatic sensory, trauma-based, and indigenous worldviews. Stephanie has faced many challenges in her personal life and healing journey. Occasionally sharing her own experience, she has become an advocate for those struggling with mental health.
