Veronica Haddon

Director, Programs

Veronica is a mixed Nehiyaw & Anishinabekwe with Acadian, Ukrainian & Finnish roots. She is a member of Tatasweyak Cree First Nation (Manitoba) & also has roots with Red Rock Indian Band (Ontario). She is a mother, stepmother, foster parent & currently lives, works and plays on the unceded Lheidli T’enneh Territory with her family.

Veronica is an intergenerational survivor. Her maternal grandmother and her siblings attended Day School in Ontario & were displaced from their community due to effects of colonial processes. Her paternal father also faced disenfranchisement because of the effects of historical colonial processes.

 Veronica has worked in Community Development, Health & Wellness, as well as Events Planning in Prince George and the Northern Region for over 20 years. She is very passionate about her important roles in working and advocating for Indigenous people.

She began her journey with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society as the Indian Day School Coordinator, then worked her way up as the Indian Day School Team Lead, Supervisor, Trauma Informed Cultural Support Manager, Senior Manager – Northern Region and most recently, promoted to a newly created position within IRSSS as the Director, Programs. 

Veronica shares that she is on a lifelong healing journey and continues to strengthen her emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well-being through traditional teachings and ceremonies.
