Walking Forward Together

June marks a powerful convergence of reflection and action: National Indigenous History Month, Pride Month, and National Indigenous Peoples Day.

At IRSSS, this moment is deeply meaningful as we launch a renewed visual identity and reaffirm our commitment to healing, truth, and cultural strength.

Amid political noise, the voices that matter most are those of Survivors, families, and impacted communities across BC - stories of strength, pain, and the urgent need for safety and support. These stories are growing.

Demand for our services has surged dramatically in the past year:

Requests for Resolution Health Support more than doubled, rising by 101% to over 109,000 interactions.

Support for Indian Day School claimants grew by 90%, as more individuals sought guidance in navigating their claims and trauma.

Interactions with those impacted by MMIWG and 2SLGBTQQIA+ violence rose by 10%, reflecting continued outreach and trust in IRSSS’s safe, inclusive services.

These numbers speak volumes. They remind us that healing isn’t These numbers show healing is ongoing, deeply personal, and needed across generations. At the same time, government funding is uncertain, and private donations lag behind rising needs.

This month is more than symbolic - it’s a call to action.

Walking the path together: what real allyship looks like.

Reconciliation is not a destination… it’s a practice. We don’t ask Survivors or those receiving free services for support, but we invite allies and partners to stand with us by:

Donating one-time or monthly to meet growing demand

Hosting fundraisers for Indigenous Peoples Day

Using birthdays or social platforms to raise funds and awareness

Sharing our work with your networks

Attending Indigenous-led events during Pride and Indigenous History Month

Encouraging your organization to create a Reconciliation Action Plan with giving at its core

Including IRSSS in corporate social responsibility or employee giving programs

Every action counts. Every gift moves us forward.
