Presentations & Workshops

In addition to our work providing emotional and cultural support to Indigenous communities, the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) offers educational presentations and workshops to community groups, businesses, grade schools, universities and other organizations which want to learn from our knowledgeable staff and elders. We are flexible in the content and length of these sessions, but we recommend approximately 90 minutes for each presentation. These can be conducted online (via an online meeting service like MS Teams, Zoom, etc.) or in-person (schedule-permitting for staff in offices in BC). We can address a variety of topics, but often we are requested to speak on the History & Impacts of Indian Residential Schools in Canada, Cultural Agility Over Competency, and Understanding Intergenerational Trauma. Scheduling permitting, these can be combined with first-hand testimony from an Indian Residential School survivor or Intergenerational survivor.

2SLGBTQIA+ Support

Providing an informed, empathetic, and receptive approach to emotional and cultural support, as well as crisis counselling, for the Indigenous 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
